Lee Jong-suk began his mandatory military service on March 8, 2019, and was discharged on January 2, 2021. Due to a knee injury from a car accident at age 16, which resulted in a torn anterior cruciate ligament, he was deemed unfit for active duty and served as a public service worker instead. How he started acting

Lee Jong-suk’s interest in acting began somewhat accidentally. During his 8th-grade year, he was recovering from a knee injury caused by a car accident. During this time, he watched many dramas, including Full House, where he was particularly drawn to Rain’s role. Inspired by Rain’s performance, Lee Jong-suk decided to pursue a career in acting. Little did he know that eight years later, he would co-star with his idol, Rain, in the movie R2B: Return to Base.
