How she started acting

From an early age, IU was interested in the entertainment industry and began attending acting classes. During middle school, she discovered her passion for singing and decided to pursue a career as a singer after receiving applause for a performance at her school’s sports competition.

IU faced numerous challenges, including failing 20 auditions, such as with JYP Entertainment, and being scammed by fraudulent entertainment companies. Park Jin Young later revealed that he regretted not accepting IU.

Despite these setbacks, she remained determined and eventually trained with Good Entertainment alongside future stars such as Uee, Yubin, Heo Ga-yoon, and Jun Hyo-seong.

In 2007, she signed with LOEN Entertainment (now Kakao Entertainment). IU was a trainee for 10 months, a period she thought was too short. However, her company trusted her abilities, which led to her quick debut.

IU debuted at the age of 15 with her first extended play (EP), “Lost and Found,” in 2008. Although her initial release did not achieve significant commercial success, her talent and perseverance soon paid off. Her breakthrough came with the release of “Good Day” in 2010, which topped the South Korean music charts and catapulted her to stardom.

Lilac (Album)
